Nevada Health Centers Offers Telehealth Counseling & Addiction Services

Perhaps now more than ever before, locals may be feeling overwhelming stress and anxiety — sometimes even turning to unhealthy habits in response. In order to provide behavioral health resources to Nevadans who have been ordered to #StayHomeForNevada, Nevada Health Centers (NVHC) has announced that teletherapy appointments are now available for new and existing patients.

Patients can safely connect with a Licensed Clinical Social Worker from their own home — through their smartphone, tablet or computer with video/audio capability. As with their other healthcare services (including women’s health, pediatrics, pharmacy, dental emergencies), NVHC offers a sliding-fee scale for mental health and addiction counseling.

“So many people are stressed and anxious about their health and finances, which can contribute to other problems — from relationship issues to addiction and everything in between,” said NVHC Director of Behavioral Health Sandra Abdullah. “Our behavioral health team is available to meet them through their phone or video to help them talk through the issues that are troubling them.”

Abdullah adds that social distancing mandates can often lead to feelings of isolation and helplessness. Therefore, NVHC’s licensed behavioral health providers are putting more emphasis on technology as a treatment modality, connecting with patients by video to give them the specific tools they need to improve their health.

“Sometimes, people just need to know there are resources available to them during this trying time,” said NVHC Director of Telehealth Services Corie Nieto. “We’re grateful that technology allows us to safely bring these resources to the people who need them.”
